World Champion and 4x Olympian Allison Schmitt has joined the SURGE team as the program’s honorary Chief Empowerment Officer. After a seasoned career at the professional and collegiate level, Schmitt earned her master’s degree in social work and has a passion to educate and empower young female athletes. She understands the pressures young girls face and will contribute to program content designed to help prioritize well-being both in and out of sport.
Emily Cole is the captain of Duke’s Track & Field team and best-selling author of The Players’ Plate, a guide to fundamental sports nutrition. Emily’s dedication to health advocacy began after a near-fatal brush with hyponatremia at age 17. As a leader on and off the track, Emily is passionate about educating athletes on how to properly fuel their bodies for optimal health and athletic performance.
Hawaii-native and 2X NCAA National Champion volleyball player at the University of Texas, Keonilei Akana personifies resilience on and off the court. In high school, Keonilei was diagnosed with two brain tumors and underwent brain surgeries and weeks of radiation – all while excelling as a student athlete and never letting anything get in the way of her dreams.
Alyssa Brito is an All-American third base player on the University of Oklahoma softball team. A 2x NCAA National Champion, Alyssa helped lead her team to the 2023 National Championship, hitting a team high of 17 home runs during the season. Alyssa is a standout leader on her team, exuding passion, celebration and faith in every aspect of her game.
